John Dryden

Born: August 19, 1631, in Aldwinkle, Northamptonshire, England

He was the eldest of 14 children!

He was a second cousin once removed of Jonathan Swift.

He was appointed to the position of Poet Laureate of England

He made such an influence on the literature of his time that the period became known as the Age of Dryden in literary circles.
